The Sponsorship & Dedication policy was adopted by Council on October 11, 2023 which sets out the Naming of Town Assets program in Appendix E. This program includes the commemorative naming of Town assets (i.e., Town-owned parks and/or facilities, or any major components thereof).
The Process:
The process for commemorative naming includes:
- Submission of an application.
- Initial review by the Commemorative Naming Working Group for confirmation that at least one of the commemorative naming criteria has been sufficiently met.
- Public consultation for a minimum of 30 calendar days.
- Consultation with applicant(s), internal department(s) and any necessary external stakeholders.
- Compilation of consultation results and a secondary review by the Commemorative Naming Working Group.
- Approval or rejection of proposed naming by Council resolution.
Applications & Surveys:
Applications that have been submitted and approved to move forward with public consultation.
Status of Current Applications:
The following surveys have closed and the results will be brought forward to General Committee for consideration.
