Algonquin Theatre – 5-year Business Plan
We want to know what you think
The Town of Huntsville has completed the 5-year business plan for the Algonquin Theatre. See the plan here.
The Algonquin Theatre officially opened its doors on May 14, 2005 to a full house of supporters. Opening week was filled with excitement as a vision was being realized in Huntsville. The Algonquin Theatre is part of the Huntsville Civic Centre, in the heart of downtown Huntsville.
The Algonquin Theatre, home of the Huntsville Festival of the Arts, has been host to a wide variety of plays, musical performances, meetings, videos, presentations, and school groups. The Theatre has offered outstanding performances from comedians to orchestras, from elementary school plays to musicians of international acclaim.
At the entrance of the Algonquin Theatre, you will have the opportunity to view the breath-taking bronze statue of Tom Thomson, created by sculptor, Brenda Wainman-Goulet. This piece of art kicks off the start of an exciting artistic experience within Partners’ Hall, located inside the Theatre; every month has something new to enjoy, curated by the Huntsville Art Society.
Our space is for the many and not for the few. The Algonquin Theatre strives to be the venue of choice for area events, attractions, and meetings.

Hello from Toronto,
I am a promoter living in Toronto from Paris, still doing concerts in Paris and Europe. Thinking to move to Huntsville and doing some concerts too. Like what you are trying to do with the venue.
I wil try to go to Huntsville soon again. You can contact me If you have any questions.

Good Local entertainment is a key factor in building s vibrant community. Having a plan that the community can participate in and understand is important. It validates the plan. Good work!
An opportunity to see performances locally, at affordable prices, intimate setting. Otherwise theatre cost could be prohibitive for us. The artists I've seen all seem to be enjoying the interaction with audience. The theatre is a gem of Huntsville and everything should be done to promote and continue to bring quality music and theatre. Canadian first as well as other entertainment. Natalie McMaster, as well as her family, Lighthouse, Stampeders, enjoyed thoroughly. Looking forward to many great events this summer/fall and will be watching to see what else is booked. Missed Chantal Kraviazuk but would go next time. Would love to see Gordon Lightfoot, Kenny G (not likely but one can hope, Muskoka is beautiful) etc. Liked the suggestions of "movie night" Maybe some double features, Friday nights in the winter. Support Community theatre with Neil Simon, British comedy plays, mysteries or improv for examples. Coordinate with Library and entice famous Authors to give readings from their books. The theatre should be a Community focal point, a meeting place to share music, drama, suspense, and laughter. It should stimulate us to discuss, ponder, debate, be philosophical, or just take us on a trip outside our daily lives if only for a couple hours. The possibilities are limitless!!
concerts at the Algonquin are always a great experience.
The artist obviously enjoy being at the Algonquin preform well and interact with the audience.
both during the show and at merchandise booth after concert.
Shows are affordable.
Staff are welcoming at all times.
also a benefit that it is close to home and parking is readily available, free and safe.
Restaurants near theatre provide a good range of affordable quality dining experiences.
I look forward to being back for a show
Thanks,
Glenn O'Rourke
Hear! Hear to joan@flipevents.com. Her comments are spot on. As a new resident of Muskoka (and long time homeowner in Almaguin), I am excited to see all the theatrical talent in the area. Brining in shows from outside the area is fun, and often gives us a chance to see things for which we would otherwise have to travel.
But CREATING them here, with our local actors, directors, dramaturgs technical specialists and producers means reflecting our own communities as well as *supporting* them. After all, culture comes from within.
As permanent residents on Lake of Bays we would like to see more professional theatre at The Algonquin Theatre. More importantly an investment by the Theatre in PRODUCING live theatre as opposed to being a "roadhouse" for imported theatre.
The theatre is a gem, in our community. It is imperative that it's mission is to support community efforts and is the art, culture and performing art centre if our Huntsville world. Keep upthegood work.
Now that Huntsville has lost it’s beloved movie theatre it would be nice if Algonquin Theatre expanded their movie options.
Thank you for your contribution!
